NEW YORK, NY — Brazilian middleweight Gregory Rodrigues is focused on consistency and patience ahead of his fight against Roman Kopylov at VeChain UFC 322 on November 15. Rodrigues, known as “Robocop,” aims to continue improving after his last fight against Jared Cannonier in February, where he lost despite knocking Cannonier down twice in the first round.

Following that setback, Rodrigues bounced back with a first-round knockout of Jack Hermansson in June, learning valuable lessons about patience and strategy. “That just showed exactly what I learned from my fight against Cannonier, about patience and knowing myself more,” Rodrigues said in an interview with UFC.com. He believes the experiences have prepared him to meet new challenges in the Octagon.

Rodrigues has a record of 17 wins, with 9 of those by knockout, and is on a quest for a chance at the Top 15 middleweight rankings. He acknowledges the stakes of his upcoming fight with Kopylov, who has a reputation as a knockout artist himself. “This fight promises fireworks,” Rodrigues said, expressing excitement over what could be a turning point in his career.

Training in New York has led Rodrigues to embrace a disciplined approach, inspired by a conversation with his pastor about motivation versus discipline. “Motivation comes and goes,” he explained. “Discipline is what helps you put in the work.” He applies this mindset as he preps for the challenging matchup ahead.

Rodrigues also expressed his eagerness to compete in the legendary Madison Square Garden, saying, “It’s an honor for me, but I know I earned this position.” With five post-fight bonuses since joining the UFC, he aims to extend that streak against Kopylov. “I respect him, I think he’s a warrior, but I’m ready for everything,” Rodrigues mentioned about his opponent.

His focus now is on putting on a memorable performance that resonates with fans. “Expect a war, for sure,” he stated confidently as he prepares for the bout. The fight will be a crucial step in his journey as he strives to become a contender in the UFC.
