Trae Young Atlanta Hawks Vs Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn, NY

The Atlanta Hawks will look to improve their season record Wednesday night as they face the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. With a current record of 1-3, the Hawks have struggled early on, losing to Toronto, Oklahoma City, and Chicago. Meanwhile, the winless Nets (0-4) have suffered significant defeats by margins of 19, 7, 11, and 28 points.

Atlanta’s hope rests partly on the return of Jalen Johnson, who had been sidelined with an ankle injury. Johnson played in their recent loss to Chicago and has averaged 19.7 points per game, shooting 56.7% from the field this season. However, he has yet to hit a 3-pointer, going 0-for-5 from beyond the arc.

“This matchup is a prime opportunity for us,” said Hawks guard Trae Young. “Brooklyn’s defense hasn’t been great, which should help us find our rhythm.”

Despite their struggles, the Hawks believe they are poised for a bounce-back. They rank 24th in offensive rating, but all teams facing the Nets have scored at least 118 points this season. Young is confident that a high-scoring game is likely. “We just need to capitalize on their weak defense,” he added.

Brooklyn, while last in defensive ranking, manages to maintain a top-12 offensive rating, scoring effectively despite their losses. The Nets’ games have consistently exceeded 238.5 points this season, indicating potential for another high-scoring encounter.

The Hawks also share concerns about their own defensive shortcomings, having allowed 117 or more points in three of their four games. As the teams prepare for Wednesday’s clash, both expect a competitive game with significant offense from both sides.

Oddsmakers suggest the Hawks might be favored to win this match-up, and many are betting on the total score to go over 238.5 points. However, the outcome hinges on whether Atlanta can capitalize on Brooklyn’s defensive woes.

“This is our chance to turn things around,” Johnson said. “We need to bring our A-game.”
