NC State Hosts UAB in Exciting Men’s Basketball Matchup
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s basketball team will face UAB Friday night in a highly anticipated matchup at the Lenovo Center. This game marks the second for both teams this season, with tipoff set for 9 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
NC State is coming off a dominating 114-66 victory over North Carolina Central on Monday. In that game, the Wolfpack made a program-record 19 three-pointers, tying the school record previously set in 2017. The team also showcased a balanced scoring effort, with seven players reaching double figures. Darrion Williams led the way with 19 points, and every player contributed to the team’s success.
Head coach Will Wade took over the program earlier this year and is looking to continue this momentum against the Blazers. Wade previously led McNeese State to two successful seasons, laying the foundation for his expectations at NC State.
Friday’s game will also feature the return of UAB head coach Andy Kennedy to NC State. Kennedy played at NC State before transferring to UAB, and will be looking to build on his team’s early season success after defeating Mississippi Valley State, 106-55, earlier this week.
Both teams combined to score 220 points in their season openers, demonstrating their offensive firepower. NC State’s ability to shoot effectively from beyond the arc will be critical against UAB’s defensive strategy, which previously limited opponents to low shooting percentages.
The Wolfpack has a rich history against non-conference opponents, boasting a 67-3 record at home since the 2016-17 season. With a sold-out crowd expected, the atmosphere in Raleigh promises to add excitement to what already looks like a thrilling contest.
As the Wolfpack continues to adjust to their new roster and coaching staff, fans will be eager to see how they perform against UAB, especially after such a strong opening game. Coach Wade stressed the need to maintain focus and improve defensively as they progress through the season.
The stage is set for an exciting encounter, and fans will be watching closely as NC State looks to extend their winning start.
