The “America's Got Talent” Season 19 finale brought unexpected laughter when Simon Cowell was the target of a prank orchestrated by fellow judge Howie Mandel, with assistance from comedian David Alan Grier. The hilarious setup aired during the final performance night, creating a memorable moment for viewers.

David Alan Grier, known for joining the NBC family through the upcoming comedy “St. Denis Medical,” decided to start the laughs early with an intricate prank on the “AGT” judges. Grier, misrepresented as the director for the finale promo shoots, led Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Cowell through absurd scenarios that left the audience in stitches.

The plot saw the judges seated before a blue screen, with Grier suggesting that skyline images of various NBC affiliate cities would be added in post-production. As they read through increasingly bizarre promo scripts, Grier ensured a lively atmosphere with loud noise disturbances behind them.

Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara managed to roll with the comedic punches, even impersonating a New Yorker with gusto, but Cowell, known for his seriousness, soon showed signs of frustration. The situation intensified when cowboy props were offered for a promo in San Antonio, Texas, to which Cowell firmly declined.

Despite his reluctance, Cowell soldiered on through the extravagantly scripted promos, delivering lines with a visible mix of amusement and bewilderment. Once the prank was revealed, all judges, including Cowell, laughed along, appreciating the elaborate setup.

Grier’s prank was not only a part of the night’s entertainment but also a promotion for his upcoming NBC comedy, “St. Denis Medical,” premiering on November 12. The show, featuring an ensemble cast including Allison Tolman and Wendi McLendon-Covey, promises a comedic take on the hectic environment of an understaffed hospital.
