Shayne Gostisbehere Hockey Return

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Carolina Hurricanes could welcome back defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and goalie Pyotr Kochetkov in tonight’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights at Lenovo Center.

Coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed at 4:30 p.m. that Gostisbehere will play, while Kochetkov will not return just yet. Gostisbehere suffered a lower-body injury during a victory over Los Angeles on October 18, which forced him to miss several games.

Despite being sidelined, Gostisbehere returned to practice this week, donning a regular sweater. His participation depends on his comfort level, as he has only skated with the team once since his injury. If he can’t play, Domenick Fensore is expected to step in, as Brind’Amour praised his recent performance.

“He’s been playing great. Lights out,” said Brind’Amour. “We’ve always liked him, so you give him an opportunity.”

Kochetkov, who also has a lower-body injury, has been out of action since October 6. Brind’Amour anticipates his return in the near future, potentially as soon as Thursday against New York.

The Hurricanes, currently with a record of 6-2-0, are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to Dallas on October 25. Carolina has faced challenges recently, including a lackluster power play ranked last in the league.

Meanwhile, the Golden Knights come into the game on a two-game losing streak, having lost 2-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in their last outing. Both teams are eager for a win as they continue the early part of the season.

As puck drop approaches at 6:30 p.m. ET, the Hurricanes are ready to show their resilience and depth against a tough opponent.
