Carolina Hurricanes Vs Chicago Blackhawks 2025 Game

CHICAGO – The Carolina Hurricanes are set to face the Chicago Blackhawks tonight in a pivotal NHL matchup at the United Center. The game, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET, marks the start of a back-to-back series for the Hurricanes against Central Division opponents.

Since January 9, the Hurricanes have shown a mixed performance, defeating top teams like the Eastern Conference leaders and the Pacific Division leaders, but also losing to some of the league’s weakest teams. Tonight, they are heavy favorites against the Blackhawks, who are currently the worst team in the NHL.

The Blackhawks have struggled significantly this season, not making the playoffs since the 2016-17 season and consistently finishing at the bottom of the Central Division. Head coach Luke Richardson was fired early in the season, and Anders Sörensen has taken over as interim head coach. Despite their struggles, the Blackhawks have shown some strength in special teams, ranking seventh in the NHL for penalty kill percentage.

Connor Bedard, the Blackhawks’ sophomore forward, continues to lead the team’s offense with 41 points in 46 games. Former Hurricane Teuvo Teravainen has also been a key player, leading the team in scoring since the beginning of January.

For the Hurricanes, consistency remains a challenge. They have not won more than two games in a row since mid-November. Jordan Staal, who will appear in his 1,300th NHL game tonight, and Brent Burns, who is nearing his 900th career point, are players to watch. The return of Frederik Andersen from injury could also provide a boost to the team.

The Hurricanes have a solid record on the first night of back-to-back games this season, but they cannot afford to underestimate the Blackhawks, especially with a game against the Dallas Stars looming tomorrow.
