India Vs Bangladesh Kanpur Test 2024

The India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, set to take place at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, is facing weather-related challenges as rain and thunderstorms are predicted on the opening days. The match, which is scheduled to commence at 9:30 AM IST on Friday, has been impacted by wet weather conditions leading up to the event.

Ahead of the Test, light rain disrupted Bangladesh’s practice session, while the Indian team managed to complete their training earlier in the day. “Although the venue last hosted a match some time ago, the drainage system is well-maintained, and the groundsmen are equipped to prepare the field,” stated Sanjay Kapoor, the manager of Green Park Stadium.

Despite assurances regarding the stadium’s infrastructure, including two super-soppers available on-site, the forecast remains concerning. According to AccuWeather, thunderstorms are expected from 10 AM to 11:30 AM on Day 1. There is also a forecast for possible thunderstorms returning in the afternoon.

The Weather Channel predicts a 73 percent chance of rain on Day 2 and 64 percent on Day 3, but conditions are expected to improve significantly, with lower chances of rain on Days 4 and 5. This intermittent weather could impact both sides aiming for a decisive outcome in the series.

Adding complexity to the situation, officials have raised safety concerns regarding one of the stadium stands. The Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department has flagged the Balcony C stand as potentially unsafe for full capacity, prompting the decision to limit ticket sales for that section.

India currently leads the series 1-0 after a dominant 280-run victory in the first Test at Chennai. The team, captained by Rohit Sharma, is looking to sweep the series ahead of their subsequent three T20Is against Bangladesh and a series against New Zealand next month.
