India U 19 Vs Australia U 19 Cricket Match

In an impressive display of young cricketing talent, the India Under-19 team clinched a decisive victory over Australia Under-19 in the second Youth Test held in Chennai from October 7 to 9, 2024. The match, conducted at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, saw the Indian side triumph by an innings and 120 runs, thereby winning the two-match series 2-0.

India elected to bat after winning the toss and managed a formidable first-innings total of 492 runs, establishing a solid foundation. Their innings were punctuated by stellar performances with multiple batsmen contributing significantly. The Indian bowlers, led by outstanding figures from Anmoljeet Singh and Mohamed Enaan, crippled the Australian batting line-up through insightful spin bowling.

Australia’s inability to match the Indian score was evident as they were bundled out for 277 runs in their first innings. The Indian bowlers maintained pressure and effectiveness, prominently with Anmoljeet Singh who took four wickets, earning accolades for his disciplined lines and utilising the conditions expertly.

With a follow-on enforced, the Australian team faltered again in their second innings, collapsing for a mere 95 runs. Mohamed Enaan delivered a terrific performance with a series of crucial dismissals, further solidifying India’s defense. Anmoljeet Singh’s excellent bowling, including a five-wicket haul on debut, sealed the game for India. “Bowling in tandem with Enaan also helped,” he remarked, highlighting the cooperation that contributed to their success.

Reflecting on the match, Australian captain Oliver Peake expressed the difficulties faced by his team. “The pitch progressively got worse,” stated Peake, attributing part of their defeat to fatigue from the lengthy innings. Despite the loss, Peake described his experience positively, stating, “It’s the hardest innings I’ve played and one of my proudest moments.”

India’s Anmoljeet Singh, hailing from Shimlapuri in Ludhiana, drew attention to his personal achievements on an international platform, thanking his coach Harbhajan Kala and his family for their unwavering support. “Getting a five-wicket haul is a great feeling,” he commented while addressing the media post-match.
