The Chairman of Indian Overseas Congress, Sam Pitroda, has voiced support for the party’s stance on wealth redistribution and has put forth the idea of implementing an inheritance tax law in India. Mr. Pitroda highlighted the existing inheritance tax system in the U.S., where a portion of an individual’s wealth is transferred to the government upon their demise.

Expressing concerns about wealth concentration, Mr. Pitroda emphasized the importance of policies that aim to distribute wealth more equitably among the populace. He underscored the absence of inheritance tax in India, which allows for the full transfer of wealth to heirs without any contribution to the public coffers.

Amid criticisms of the Congress manifesto by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, Mr. Pitroda defended the party’s proposed policies for wealth redistribution and societal welfare. He disapproved of PM Modi’s remarks, particularly his likening of the Congress manifesto to the erstwhile ‘Muslim League‘ agenda.

Responding to the Prime Minister’s recent remarks on population control and wealth redistribution, Mr. Pitroda condemned the derogatory comments and labeled PM Modi as a ‘pathological liar’. He expressed disappointment in the Prime Minister’s rhetoric and accused him of spreading misinformation.
