The Indrani Mukerjea Saga Unveiled: A Deep Dive Into The Buried Truth Documentary On Netflix

A new documentary series shedding light on the infamous case of Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, has been unveiled on the popular streaming platform Netflix.

The series titled ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth’ delves into the mysterious disappearance of 25-year-old Sheena Bora, originally set to premiere on February 23.

Following legal objections from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) citing concerns of prejudicing the trial, the release of the documentary was briefly halted.

However, the court dismissed the CBI’s petition seeking a stay on the documentary’s release, allowing it to be streamed on Netflix.

The case dates back to April 2012, when Sheena Bora was allegedly murdered by Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and driver Shyamvar Rai, with her body later found burnt in the Raigad district of Maharashtra.

Revelations about the murder came to light in 2015 when Shyamvar Rai confessed to the crime after being arrested in an unrelated case, leading to Indrani Mukerjea’s arrest in August 2015.

Despite her arrest, Mukerjea was granted bail in May 2022, along with the other accused, including Shyamvar Rai, Sanjeev Khanna, and Peter Mukerjea, Indrani’s former spouse.

The CBI had raised concerns that the documentary could sway public opinion and impact the judicial process, but the court’s decision to allow its release indicates otherwise.
