Jalen Green’s Injury Sidelines Him After Impressive Suns Debut
Phoenix, AZ — Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after reaggravating his right hamstring strain during Saturday’s victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
With 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Green drove to the basket but injured his hamstring after passing to teammate Ryan Dunn. He limped off the court while trainers assisted him to the locker room and did not return for the rest of the game.
Arizona Sports‘ John Gambadoro reported that Green will likely undergo imaging on Monday, and he is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. Green previously strained this hamstring during training camp, missing the Suns’ first eight games of the season.
Despite the setback, Green made a strong impression in his season debut just days earlier, scoring 29 points on 10-for-20 shooting. His six three-pointers set a franchise record for the most made in a debut.
Before his injury, Green had contributed two points, one rebound, and one assist in seven minutes against the Clippers. He had played all 82 games in each of the previous two regular seasons.
The Suns, now without Green, will look to adjust ahead of their matchup against the Pelicans. The team remains hopeful for a quick recovery for the talented guard.
