Jannik Sinner Advances After Battling Atmane in Beijing

BEIJING, China — Jannik Sinner defeated French player Atmane in a tough match at the ATP 500 tournament on September 27, 2025. Sinner won the match with final scores of 6-4, 5-7, 6-0, taking two hours and 21 minutes to secure his spot in the quarterfinals.
After the match, Sinner acknowledged the challenges he faced, including losing two serves without scoring. “I said there would be changes in my game, but they still need time to develop,” he stated. The young Italian highlighted the need to balance his game: “I’m trying to do about 80% of my usual game and adding 20% of new elements. I think I should focus on being 90-95% myself and introduce new tactics in calmer moments.”
As he prepares for his next opponent, Hungarian player Marozsan, Sinner emphasized his anticipation for the match, stating, “We played against each other in Halle over a year ago. He’s playing well, hitting strong shots, and has great touch. It’s a new challenge, and I look forward to it.” Sinner shared insights into his current strategy, mentioning that he’s experimenting with different serve rotations, drop shots, and serve-and-volley plays.
Sinner admitted that the adjustments were still a work in progress. He expressed, “I think too much about it; it’s impossible to automate everything in such a short time.” His upcoming quarterfinal match promises to be a significant test as he continues to refine his game while maintaining his identity as a player.
