Jayden Daniels’ Injury Not as Serious as Initially Thought
Washington, D.C. – The Washington Commanders are relieved to learn that quarterback Jayden Daniels‘ dislocated left elbow is less severe than initially feared. Daniels sustained the injury during a disappointing 38-14 loss against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9. Contrary to early reports, tests revealed that there is no ligament damage, and the 24-year-old will not require surgery.
After undergoing medical evaluations, the Commanders decided not to place Daniels on injured reserve. Sources within the team indicate they may re-evaluate him after the Week 12 bye, potentially allowing him to return to the field sooner than expected.
“Sources: Commanders QB Jayden Daniels’ MRI and medical opinions revealed positive news, as his dislocated left elbow is not as serious as originally anticipated,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported. “There was no ligament damage and he won’t need surgery. Daniels will not be immediately placed on Injured Reserve.”
Before his injury, Daniels was an electrifying presence for the Commanders, recently winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. His performance had energized the franchise, making fans optimistic about the team’s future. However, the injury vulnerability has raised concerns, especially in light of former Commanders quarterback Robert Griffin III‘s career-altering injuries.
Griffin, who also faced a series of injuries early in his career, dismissed the comparisons between his situation and Daniels’. “I am a positive thinker. I believe he will bounce back, as long as they give him the proper amount of time to fully heal,” Griffin said. “Everyone keeps mentioning me on social media, but they’re really not even close to the same.”
As the Commanders navigate the rest of the season, their 3-7 record complicates the decision to rush Daniels back. If the playoffs remain a long shot, the team may err on the side of caution and allow his healing process to unfold without pressure.
With a critical matchup against the Atlanta Falcons coming up next, the Commanders will likely take the bye week to strategize and reassess their quarterback situation for the remainder of the season.
