Jazz Outlast Bulls in Historic 150-147 Double Overtime Game
SALT LAKE CITY — Lauri Markkanen scored 47 points and Keyonte George made a game-winning 3-pointer with just 0.8 seconds left, leading the Utah Jazz to a thrilling 150-147 victory over the Chicago Bulls in double overtime on Sunday night. This matchup marked the highest-scoring game of the NBA season.
Markkanen’s performance was exceptional, as he secured his second consecutive 40-point game, achieving this milestone for the first time in his NBA career. George contributed significantly as well, scoring 33 points, which included critical late-game shots.
The Bulls were led by Josh Giddey, who finished with a triple-double of 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists. Coby White also made an impact, scoring 27 points and hitting all 14 of his free throws in his season debut.
The game was tightly contested throughout, featuring numerous lead changes and ties. The Jazz initially fell behind but rallied from a seven-point deficit early in the fourth quarter, starting with an 8-0 run that gave them a brief 102-101 lead.
Markkanen’s free throw with 19 seconds to go in regulation tied the score at 127, sending the game into overtime. In the first overtime, George’s three-pointer gave Utah a lead that they maintained until the final seconds.
Chicago managed to force a second overtime thanks to a last-second layup by White, which tied the game at 136. In the second overtime, the Jazz surged ahead again, but White countered with two free throws to even the score at 147 before George sealed the win with his game-winning shot.
As the buzzer sounded, Nikola Vucevic‘s attempt to tie the game missed, confirming the Jazz’s dramatic victory over the Bulls.
