Jets’ Kicker Nick Folk Perfect as Team Struggles
East Rutherford, New Jersey — As the New York Jets continue to struggle this season, kicker Nick Folk is providing a rare bright spot. Folk has successfully made every kick this season, solidifying the Jets as the only team in the NFL without a missed field goal or extra point.
Folk, 40, has completed all 14 of his field goal attempts, including five that stretched beyond 50 yards. He has also made all seven of his extra-point tries, despite the Jets’ lack of touchdowns in several games.
Following the Chargers‘ kicker Cameron Dicker‘s first missed field goal this season, the Jets remain the only team untouched by kicking failures. Folk’s performance stands out amid the team’s dismal record, as they have yet to secure a victory this season.
Head coach Aaron Glenn faces mounting pressure as the Jets prepare for a Sunday Night Football matchup against the Bengals, holding a 0-7 record. Their previous game ended in a narrow 13-6 defeat against the Panthers, where Folk managed to score twice while the Jets struggled otherwise.
Quarterback Justin Fields, who has faced criticism from the organization, including public remarks from owner Woody Johnson, expressed his understanding of the situation. Fields acknowledged that he bears responsibility, stating, “Of course, everybody knows I need to play better.” He added that it’s important for players to believe in themselves, even when facing challenges.
As the Jets get ready to face the Bengals, the uncertainty looms over whether Fields will start, while coaches contemplate changes to improve their disheartening season.
