Jett Lawrence Dominates at Fox Raceway Season Opener

PALA, California: Jett Lawrence made a powerful return at Fox Raceway on May 24, 2025, claiming victory in the first round of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Competing in the 450 class, Lawrence finished the first moto ahead of the field by seven seconds, showcasing his elite status after recovering from an ACL injury.
Lawrence, who had won four consecutive motos before the event, displayed confidence in his performance. “I wasn’t sure how I would perform,” he told Peacock’s Jason Thomas, acknowledging both the challenges of the track and his eagerness to race. “The track was pretty difficult. We got a flow, but it was pretty edgy.”
Justin Cooper secured second place early in the race and expressed satisfaction with his performance. “I kept my flow all moto,” he said. “The track was pretty good today.” His comments reflected a strategic approach as he settled into place behind Lawrence, knowing the leader’s racing style.
In third place, Hunter Lawrence returned from injury, emphasizing the importance of strong starts. “It all starts with the starts,” he stated, mentioning that consistency is key for future races.
Eli Tomac, also back from injury, finished fourth, battling hard alongside Hunter Lawrence in the final lap. Aaron Plessinger rounded out the top five after fending off RJ Hampshire, who was making his 450 motocross debut.
Race day wasn’t without its challenges as Chase Sexton faced an early setback. He crashed and ended up retiring from the race. “I tossed my goggles on the first lap and just lost any chance from there,” Sexton explained post-race.
The motos showcased not just speed but strategic racing between the competitors, setting an exciting tone for the upcoming races. “That was just the first round; we’ve got a long season ahead,” said Lawrence, hinting at more thrilling battles to come.
