John Cena Confirms Retirement Date Amid Speculation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — John Cena has confirmed that he is set to retire from WWE, ending years of speculation about his future in wrestling. In a post on social media, the 48-year-old star reiterated that his final match will take place on December 13, 2025, at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Cena announced his retirement from in-ring competition on July 6, 2024, at a WWE event in Canada. He stated, “Despite any speculation or rumors, I announced I would retire from WWE in-ring participation. I am far from perfect but strive to be a person whose word has value.”
During the announcement, Cena expressed gratitude for his time with WWE, saying, “I am beyond grateful for every moment WWE has given me. I am excited for 12/13 & look forward to seeing all of you one last time.” This statement has put an end to continued hopes from fans and some wrestling commentators about extending his wrestling career.
Cena’s upcoming final match has not yet confirmed an opponent, but reports indicate he may face two-time world champion Gunther. The wrestler has four appearances left before he steps away from the ring, with his next match scheduled for November 10 on Raw in Boston, followed by another match on November 17 and then at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29.
As he prepares for his farewell, Cena has urged fans to join him for what he hopes will be an unforgettable final appearance in WWE.
