John Tierney Named Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week
This week, Pinelands Regional High School, located in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, received a significant accolade within the school’s athletics program. The New York Football Giants announced that John Tierney, head coach of the school’s football team, was selected as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for the fourth week of the 2024 season.
The award, according to the New York Giants’ official website, is named in memory of Lou Rettino, a former coach at Union High School, New Jersey. The award celebrates Rettino’s commitment to football, community engagement, and the advancement of his athletes’ lives. The program, aimed at supporting local high school football initiatives, is part of the Giants’ ongoing efforts to encourage athletic development at the grassroots level.
In acknowledgment of Coach Tierney’s accomplishments, The Giants Foundation, together with Gatorade, will present a $2,000 check to Pinelands Regional High School’s football program. Furthermore, Tierney will receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll. The award festivities will include a dinner at the end of the season and an invitation to a 2025 pre-season home game.
John Tierney, a resident of Bayville, New Jersey, and a lifelong New York Giants fan, shares this achievement with his family. His wife Kathy and their children, Olivia, Sean, Brooke, and Liam, are also dedicated followers of the Giants, adding a personal touch to this professional recognition.
