Jon Gruden Coaching Comeback

Las Vegas, NV — Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is making waves in the coaching community, expressing a strong desire to return to the sidelines. During a recent visit to the Detroit Lions training camp, Gruden stated, “I’m about to make a comeback. I’m working hard to maybe get one more shot. … I’m going to coach again. I’m still coaching. I’m just not on a team officially.”

With multiple high-profile coaching vacancies in college football, Gruden’s ambition seems more feasible. Currently, he is among the frontrunners for the head coaching position at the University of Arkansas, according to betting market Kalshi, where his odds have risen from 1% to 23% recently.

At a recent talk at the University of Georgia, Gruden was candid about his ambitions, saying, “The only reason I really came here is I want to coach again. … I would [expletive] love it.” Gruden has not held a coaching position since being fired by the Raiders in 2021 for controversial emails that contained racial slurs and homophobic language. He has a career record of 117-112, including a Super Bowl victory.

Gruden is competing against coaches like Eric Morris and Ryan Silverfield, who bring their own experience to the table. Morris holds a 44-33 record in his seven seasons in college football, while Silverfield has a 50-24 record over six years with Memphis.

As the coaching landscape shifts, Gruden’s return to coaching appears closer to reality, especially with the ongoing interest in his candidacy from prominent college programs.
