Barcelona, Spain – Jordi Alba, the renowned left-back for Inter Miami, has announced his retirement from professional football at the end of the current season. The 36-year-old made the revelation through an emotional video on social media, following a similar announcement by his teammate Sergio Busquets.

In his video, posted shortly before 5 PM local time, Alba stated, “It is time to close a significant chapter in my life. I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer at the end of this season.” He emphasized that this decision came with conviction and happiness, expressing that he has traveled this journey with passion and now is the right time for a new beginning.

Alba’s career spanned more than a decade with FC Barcelona, where he was a key player in one of the club’s most successful eras, winning numerous titles including six La Liga and one Champions League trophy. His synergy with Lionel Messi turned him into a vital asset for the team, allowing them to celebrate numerous victories together.

Shortly after his announcement, Inter Miami released a statement thanking both Alba and Busquets for their contributions to the team. Busquets also took the opportunity to congratulate Alba, reflecting on their time spent together as teammates.

Alba began his career at Atlético Centro Hospitalense and progressed through clubs including Cornellà and Nàstic de Tarragona before joining Valencia. His success at Valencia led him to Barcelona in 2012, where he became a household name in football.

Throughout his illustrious career, Alba represented Spain on the international stage, winning the Euro 2012 and contributing to the team’s legacy. He shared heartfelt gratitude for the clubs he played for and the people who supported him along the way.
