Josh Allen Buffalo Bills Game Preparation

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen discussed his game-day mindset and preparation in a recent interview. Speaking with PEOPLE, Allen shared how he manages to stay calm and focused before each match.

At 29 years old, the reigning NFL MVP highlighted the importance of music in his pre-game routine. “I just try to listen to very slow old-school stuff to try to keep the heart rate down,” he told PEOPLE in June. His playlist often features artists like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and Billy Joel.

Allen’s approach seems effective. Prior to Sunday, Oct. 5, the Bills were undefeated and aimed to reach the AFC championship game this season, chasing their first Super Bowl win. During a dramatic game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills rallied from a 15-point deficit to win 41-40.

<p“Our team didn’t quit,” Allen remarked after the comeback. “I think there’s people that left the stadium, that’s okay, we’ll be fine, but have some faith next time.”

As part of his routine, he practices a form of meditation to maintain composure. “Just talking to myself and be like, alright, breathe,” he explained. “Take it one moment at a time. Don’t get too high, don’t get too low.”

After a loss to the New England Patriots on Oct. 5, Allen emphasized the importance of moving forward. “I have to have such a short memory and I’ve got to wipe it from my memory and move on to the next play,” he stated. “Whatever my offensive coordinator is calling, that’s the most important thing in my life at that moment.”

As the Bills prepare for their upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 2, Allen’s focus remains on bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo. “Being mentioned for MVP means your team is doing really well,” he said. “The only thing that I’m worried about is doing everything I can to bring a Lombardi Trophy here.”
