Kai Lohmann, a young and enthusiastic player for Brisbane, recently showcased his exuberant spirit following his team’s impressive win in the preliminary final. In a post-match interview with Channel 7, Lohmann expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m buzzing right now. I will probably say something stupid. I’m gonna keep it PG but far out, that’s the best thing I’ve ever experienced.” The interview included interactions with notable commentators such as Bruce McAvaney, Luke Hodge, and Dale Thomas.

The 21-year-old Lohmann has had a breakout season, participating in 25 games compared to just six last year. During the recent match, he contributed significantly by scoring a goal and executing a spectacular mark. When asked about his performance, Lohmann remarked with charm, “It was alright, Bruce. What did you say? Did you get up and about?” His playful demeanor was well-received by the commentators, with Thomas noting the high praise given to Lohmann’s actions on the field.

Reflecting on his playing style, Lohmann mentioned, “I loved playing attacking footy and taking high-flying marks. But since coming here I’ve had deficiencies in my defence and (fixing that) has really helped me with my forward (craft).” As the Brisbane team prepares for the upcoming grand final, Lohmann stated his intent to rely on experienced teammates to maintain their winning momentum.

Ahead of the grand final, Brisbane is set to travel to Melbourne a day earlier than their previous year’s schedule. The team plans a main training session in Melbourne on Thursday followed by the Captain’s Run and Grand Final Parade on Friday.

Additionally, the return of veteran AFL commentator Bruce McAvaney to the 7AFL team has been warmly welcomed. McAvaney, known for his distinctive commentary style, will host the preliminary finals and the grand final, reconnecting with Australian football fans after a hiatus from the sport’s broadcasting scene. His presence at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) was notably celebrated, with one fan even sharing a kiss in excitement.
