Kaizer Chiefs Set to Begin New Season Against Marumo Gallants

The anticipated clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Marumo Gallants marks the beginning of the 2024-25 Premier Soccer League for the South African football teams. The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday evening at the Toyota Free State Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs, known as the Glamour Boys, are keen to make a strong start to the season under their new head coach, Nasreddine Nabi. This game will be Nabi’s first competitive fixture with the team since joining from AS FAR Rabat. The Chiefs have gone nine seasons without securing a major trophy and are eager to break this streak.

Marumo Gallants, referred to as Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, are also embarking on a new chapter. After being relegated in the 2022-23 season and acquiring Moroka Swallows‘ slot to play in the top tier, they will be competing once again in South Africa’s premier league. The team is under the management of head coach Dan Malesela, who took over during the pre-season.

Kaizer Chiefs are determined to put behind them the 4-0 defeat they suffered against Young Africans in a pre-season friendly match at the same venue. While they have introduced several new signings, including goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari and defender Rushwin Dortley, they will have to play without Thatayaone Ditlhokwe due to a suspension.

Marumo Gallants have also made several new acquisitions, such as former Chiefs players Phathutshedzo Nange and Daniel Akpeyi. They will, however, face the challenge of Masindi Nemtajela’s absence due to suspension.
