Kansas Jayhawks Celebrate Homecoming with 38-21 Win Over Oklahoma State

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks secured a Homecoming victory for the fourth consecutive season, defeating Oklahoma State 38-21 on Saturday at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. This win marks the program’s longest Homecoming win streak since 1997-2000.

The Jayhawks rushed for more than 200 yards for the fourth time this season, finishing with 232 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Daniel Hishaw Jr. paced the team with 77 yards and a touchdown, while Leshon Williams contributed 65 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback Jalon Daniels completed 13 of 19 passes for 110 yards, throwing touchdown passes to Bryson Canty and Boden Groen. Receiver Gavin Freeman led the team with three receptions, as seven different players caught a pass.

On the defensive side, Leroy Harris III and Dean Miller led with eight and six tackles, respectively. Kansas added to their stats with multiple sacks and pass breakups throughout the game.

With this win, Kansas improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 play, while Oklahoma State dropped to 1-8 and 0-6 in the conference.

Oklahoma State started strong, taking the lead with a 75-yard drive on their opening possession, capped off by a 12-yard touchdown pass at 10:40 in the first quarter. Kansas responded with a lengthy drive that ended with a 39-yard field goal from Laith Marjan, setting a school record for consecutive made field goals.

Following a blocked Oklahoma State field goal, Kansas took their first lead after Hishaw’s three-yard run to make it 10-7 with 3:23 remaining in the half. The Jayhawks maintained their lead into halftime after a blocked field goal attempt by Oklahoma State.

In the second half, the Jayhawks opened with a touchdown drive, expanding their lead to 17-7 with a three-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Groen. After a quick response from Oklahoma State, Kansas scored once more to stretch their advantage to 24-14.

Hishaw added another score early in the fourth quarter, and Williams followed with a five-yard touchdown run, solidifying the lead at 38-14. Oklahoma State managed a late touchdown, but it was not enough to change the outcome of the game.

Kansas will continue their Big 12 schedule next week, facing the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson on November 8, at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
