Kate Middleton Prince William Reunion

London, England — In 2007, Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s relationship ended, causing quite a stir in the tabloids. The news did not prompt any official comment from the royal family. This breakup came nearly five years after the couple began dating. However, their separation did not last long as the future King and Queen of England soon reunited.

Grant Harrold, a former butler to the royal family, shared insights into their rekindled romance in his new book, The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service. Harrold recalls a private dinner he organized for the two in 2008, just a year after their split. ‘It was just the two of them,’ Harrold said. ‘It was really nice, really special.’ During this intimate meal, he noticed a change in their dynamic, saying, ‘It was very much them as a couple.’

Harrold commented on their relationship, noting, ‘Before, they weren’t really holding hands—it was very much William’s friend. After that, something changed. From then on, it was very much a waiting game.’ He expressed his belief that once they reunited, marriage was inevitable.

Their 2007 breakup had raised concerns about the future. According to reports, Kate felt frustrated as William was busy training for military service and living away from London. Friends hinted that the couple had decreased their interactions significantly, with some suggesting their relationship was on a downward trajectory.

Robert Jobson, author of a biography on Princess Diana, highlighted that the breakup was initiated by William during a phone call. ‘He felt they needed “a bit of space” to “find our own way,”’ Jobson said. Following the split, William reportedly immersed himself in a hectic social life.

Despite the gap, the couple’s bond remained strong. They reunited at a mutual friend’s party, where they reportedly made up on the dance floor. Now parents to three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—Kate and William continue to represent the Crown and await their future roles as sovereigns.
