Keanu Reeves’ Alt Rock Band Dogstar Makes a Comeback
A alt rock band called Dogstar, featuring Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves as their bass player, is making a comeback after 23 years. The Southern California band, which also includes Bret Domrose and Rob Mailhouse, gained popularity in the mid-90s while Reeves was becoming a movie star. They toured extensively, opening for famous artists like Bon Jovi and playing at festivals such as Glastonbury.
Dogstar released their last album, Happy Ending, in 2002 before taking a break. However, the band recently reunited to create their new album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, which felt like a natural progression for them despite the passage of time. The members discuss how their friendship has remained strong throughout the years, and how making music together still brings them joy.
The episode of World Cafe featuring Dogstar was produced and edited by Kimberly Junod, with the web story created by Miguel Perez. Chris Williams served as the engineer, while Chelsea Johnson handled programming and booking coordination. Will Loftus worked as the line producer.
