Tempe, Arizona — Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham proposed a unique food item named the Cardiac Burger during a media session on Nov. 17. The suggestion came as part of a conversation about increasing local business sponsorship to support his football program. Dillingham expressed his belief that restaurant deals with players would greatly benefit both the athletes and the community.

“If you’re a local company and you want to engage our community… what better way to get your brand out there?” Dillingham said. He emphasized that the local support has been strong, with all home games sold out this season. However, he noted a gap remains in attracting corporate sponsors.

Dillingham indicated that many restaurants have engaged with players, encouraging others to follow suit. He mentioned, “There are businesses here who I truly believe have elevated their platform by naming food items after our players.” He believes this strategy can create significant advertising opportunities while supporting ASU athletes.

The Sun Devils recently demonstrated their resilience on the field, winning a closely contested game against West Virginia with a score of 25-23. Key players shared in the victory; kicker Jesus Gomez secured the win with a field goal in the last minute. This victory made it their seventh win of the season.

Additionally, Dillingham confirmed his commitment to building a strong relationship with local businesses to enhance both the football program and the city’s economy. “Our success leads to more success in local business,” he stated. The call for support was also echoed in his suggestion for the Cardiac Burger, symbolizing the excitement and tension of the games.

As ASU prepares for their next game against Colorado on Nov. 22, Dillingham remains focused on solidifying these community ties.
