Kevin Holland Prepares for Key Fight Against Mike Malott in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, Canada – Veteran welterweight Kevin Holland is set to fight Mike Malott at UFC Fight Night on October 18, 2025. This matchup marks Holland’s fifth fight of the year, with hopes of bouncing back after two recent losses.
Holland, who is approaching the seven-year milestone in his UFC career, has stepped into the Octagon 28 times. As he prepares for the fight, he remains upbeat and unconcerned about facing the Canadian fighter in front of a passionate crowd. “I think they love me because I am me,” Holland said about his fanbase. “I don’t change. I’m an a**hole, but I’m also a nice guy.”
This year has been eventful for Holland, featuring both impressive victories and disappointing setbacks. Notably, he secured a submission victory over Vicente Luque at UFC 316 and a decision win over Gunnar Nelson in London. However, he faced challenges, including a difficult return to middleweight that resulted in a loss to Reinier de Ridder at UFC 311.
Continuing his assessment of his performance, Holland noted that mistakes contributed to his last fight against Daniel Rodriguez, which he lost via decision. “I should be riding into this fight on a three-fight winning streak,” he said.
Holland’s opponent, Mike Malott, is coming off a knockout win over Charles Radtke at UFC 315. The Ontario-native holds a record of 3-1 in Canada, with his lone UFC loss against Neil Magny.
Despite his respect for Malott’s abilities, Holland is focused on his own goals, which include establishing his gym, Squabble MMA & Grappling, in Texas. Holland described his gym venture as a fulfilling endeavor that allows him control over his training environment. “It’s amazing, bro. Every day I wake up and am pretty happy that I have my own spot,” he said.
As Holland prepares for this bout, he emphasizes the importance of enjoying the journey. He remains enthusiastic about future aspirations in both fighting and managing upcoming fighters. With a busy schedule ahead, including a potential sixth fight in 2025, he looks ahead while focusing on the task at hand: defeating Malott.
