Kim Kardashian Reflects on Past Engagements in Latest Kardashians Episode

LOS ANGELES, CA — Kim Kardashian revisited her past engagements during the March 13 episode of The Kardashians, reflecting on her fleeting marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries and the significance of her engagement rings.

Kardashian, 44, opened up to her sister about the three engagement rings she has received, particularly reminiscing about the emerald-cut diamond ring given to her by Humphries in 2011 during their short-lived marriage.

“Number one was a cushion cut, 14-karat,” Kardashian said, before discussing the second ring, an 18-karat emerald cut. “I didn’t keep that,” she added. “I was pregnant with my daughter [North] while still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce.”

Kim clarified that she purchased the second ring herself, with Humphries only contributing a small portion. “He contributed a fifth,” she explained, eliciting a surprised reaction from her hairstylist, who called the situation “savage.”

Schwartz, Kim’s hairstylist, stated that getting rid of the ring was for the “best.” Kardashian responded, “But I would’ve loved a collection.”

Though she married rapper Kanye West after her divorce from Humphries, Kardashian often avoids discussing her brief marriage to Humphries. However, during the episode, she humorously pondered whether she should reach out to him after her sister Khloé mentioned seeing her own ex-husband, Lamar Odom.

“Should I call Kris Humphries?” Kardashian asked, prompting Khloé to suggest, “Get all the ex-husbands on here.”

In a previous interview in 2021, Kardashian admitted to feeling pressured during her 2011 wedding to Humphries due to the reality show filming. “I thought, ‘Okay, we’re filming this for a TV show. If I leave, I’m going to be known as the runaway bride forever,’” she recalled.

She expressed regret for how she ended the relationship, saying, “I handled it totally the wrong way… I learned so much from it.”

In the same episode, Kardashian also discussed a separate incident involving her other engagement ring from West. She recalled a stern warning from him about wearing both of her engagement rings simultaneously, which may have contributed to her leaving an important piece of jewelry at home during a trip to Paris.

<p“My first one that I got engaged to Kanye with was a cushion cut and that was the only piece of jewelry I owned that I didn’t take to Paris,” Kardashian explained.

She recounted the events of her unfortunate robbery in Paris, where an estimated $10 million in jewels was stolen from her hotel room. “Kanye saw it and he goes, ‘Don’t you ever wear both of your rings at the same time. Are you looking to get robbed?’”

Following the robbery, Kardashian expressed a desire to begin wearing her diamonds again, and mentioned her intention to pass down her original engagement ring to her daughter North, who played a part in the couple’s engagement.

<p“That one, I’m gonna give to Northy, because she was with me when I got engaged,” Kardashian shared. “She held it after and I took a photo and she was just, like, a few months old.”

Kim and West married in 2014 and share four children together: North, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 3.
