Kraken Begin Four-Game Road Trip Against Red Wings Tonight
Detroit, MI — The Seattle Kraken will face the Detroit Red Wings tonight at Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m. ET. The Kraken, holding a 3-3-2 record on the road this season, are looking to build on their previous win against the San Jose Sharks.
Head coach Lane Lambert is focusing on key players including Shane Wright and Eeli Tolvanen as the Kraken seek to improve their performance. Lambert noted Wright’s shooting skills as a critical asset, stating, “It’s his shot. He does have a knack for knowing when to shoot.” Wright, 21, recently transitioned to playing wing and is expected to partner with 19-year-old center Berkly Catton on the third line.
Tolvanen, a well-known shooter, scored three goals in his last five games after a slow start. “It’s a confidence thing,” said Tolvanen, reflecting on his recent success. His partnerships with linemate Chandler Stephenson have proven productive, contributing to his goals.
Injury updates have affected the team, as goaltender Joey Daccord returns from injury and will start tonight. Matt Murray, however, has been placed on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury, expected to sideline him for about six weeks.
As the Kraken reach the quarter-mark of the 2025-26 season, Lambert is pleased with their performance. The team has shown strong effort, projecting a playoff-worthy pace. “We’re doing a good job. Our guys are committed,” he said. He praised their defensive improvements, which he believes will support offensive efforts moving forward.
The Red Wings, currently at 11-7-1, have faced ups and downs recently, but come off a victory against the New York Rangers. Despite facing challenges, head coach Derek Lalonde remains optimistic about his team’s recent performance, which includes a key win against the Rangers.
This matchup is the first of the season between the Kraken and Red Wings. Both teams will aim for crucial points as they vie for a stronger position in their respective divisions.
