Landman Renewed for Season 2 Amid Stellar Ratings

LOS ANGELES, California — The dramatic series “Landman,” created by Taylor Sheridan, has officially been renewed for a second season as of March 12, 2025. The show, set in the West Texas oil fields and starring Billy Bob Thornton, originally premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024.

Following a successful first season, which concluded on January 12, 2025, “Landman” captured significant viewer attention, ranking No. 8 among streaming originals in the fourth quarter of 2024 based on Nielsen data. Paramount reported that the show achieved the highest viewership for both its global premiere and finale in the history of the streaming service.

“‘Landman’ was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan’s unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist,” Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, said in a statement. “The series has helped drive Paramount+ to new heights.”

The cast of “Landman” includes notable actors such as Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia, and several others, bringing the world of oil industry drama to life. Based on the podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, the series explores the complex interactions between oil workers and billionaires amidst ongoing discussions about energy and climate.

In Season 2, Thornton’s character, Tommy Norris, faces a series of challenges, including negotiations for a risky exploratory drilling deal and pressures from a drug cartel looking to influence operations at M-Tex Oil.
