Reda Belahyane Hellas Verona Serie A Match

ROME, Italy — SS Lazio is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with Hellas Verona for the transfer of 20-year-old midfielder Reda Belahyane, according to Italian journalist reports. The move comes as Lazio revives its interest in the French-Moroccan player after earlier pursuits of other targets fell through.

Belahyane, a deep-lying playmaker, was initially on Lazio’s radar in January, but the club shifted focus to Cesare Casadei, who ultimately joined Torino from Chelsea. With Casadei off the table, Lazio has rekindled negotiations for Belahyane, with a potential agreement expected before the transfer deadline on Monday.

Sky Sport Italia correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed the talks, stating that the two clubs are nearing a full accord. The deal is estimated to cost Lazio between €12 million and €13 million. Di Marzio also dismissed rumors linking Lazio to Empoli’s Jacopo Fazzini, emphasizing Belahyane as the primary target.

Belahyane’s move to Stade Rennais collapsed following the sacking of manager Jorge Sampaoli, leaving the door open for Lazio to step in. Transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla noted that while Marseille and Fiorentina have shown interest, Lazio’s strong relationship with Verona could give them the edge in securing the deal.

In addition to incoming transfers, Lazio is also working to offload midfielder Toma Basic, with advanced negotiations underway with Sassuolo. The potential sale of Basic could free up resources and squad space for Belahyane’s arrival.

Belahyane, who has been a standout performer for Verona, is seen as a promising addition to Lazio’s midfield. His technical skills and versatility have drawn attention from several top clubs, but Lazio appears poised to win the race for his signature.
