Leeds United Football Injury News 2025

LEEDS, England – Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke confirmed on April 7 that defender Pascal Struijk may have fractured his foot, which would likely sideline him for the remainder of the Championship season. Struijk, 25, has been integral to Leeds’ defense, contributing to their record of only 28 league goals conceded this season.

The injury occurred during Leeds’ 1-1 draw against Luton Town on April 5, forcing Struijk to leave the match in the 86th minute. Farke shared a concerning update, stating, “Struijk will definitely miss the two games this week. We need to wait for further assessment. He got a knock on his foot. More like a hit. And the fear is there could be a fracture. If it’s a fracture, that means the season is over.”

As Leeds prepares for a crucial match against fifth-placed Middlesbrough on April 8, the potential loss of Struijk weighs heavily on the team’s promotion ambitions. Currently sitting in third place, Leeds trails leaders Burnley by two points, making every remaining game vital for their chances. Farke’s squad has struggled in recent weeks, winning only once in their last six matches.

Max Wober replaced Struijk in the lineup against Luton, with either Wober or Ethan Ampadu set to take the central defensive position against Middlesbrough. Ampadu recently returned from a knee injury and played in a defensive midfielder role.

“The Whites were expected to comfortably win the league a few weeks back, but some underwhelming displays have seen them drop out of the top two,” Farke said. “We are determined to get back into the automatic promotion spots.”

With six matches remaining in the season, Farke faces a difficult challenge in maintaining squad morale and performance amidst injuries. The status of another key player, Joe Rothwell, also remains uncertain as he will miss approximately three weeks due to a calf injury.

Leeds United’s recent trend of form has caused concern among supporters. Following their draw against Luton, the team has now recorded three consecutive draws in the Championship, raising questions about their ability to secure promotion.

“If we can’t secure promotion, it could prompt changes within the squad,” Farke noted. “We have a talented team, but the pressure is on to deliver results when it matters most.”

The upcoming match against Middlesbrough represents a pivotal moment for Leeds United as they aim to regain their footing in the promotion race. Farke must find solutions to counter the absence of Struijk and ensure that the team can still compete effectively.

As the promotion race intensifies, Leeds United fans await news on Struijk’s condition and how it could impact the team’s strategies moving forward. The situation remains fluid, but the pressure continues to mount as the season draws to a close.
