Lewandowski’s Future in Jeopardy as Transfer Rumors Heat Up
Barcelona, Spain – Robert Lewandowski‘s contract with FC Barcelona is set to expire on June 30, 2026, raising speculation about his potential departure. English media report that a transfer to Manchester United has been blocked by the club’s owner, Jim Ratcliffe.
According to reports, Ratcliffe had explored the possibility of acquiring Lewandowski after his contract expiry, seeing him as a leader and mentor for younger players. However, this plan clashed with the transfer policy implemented by Ratcliffe.
The report from Goal.com states that Ratcliffe’s decision stems from past experiences with expensive transfers and the club’s current financial discipline. Lewandowski is one of the highest-paid players globally, earning around £540,000 a week at Barcelona.
Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski’s agent, commented, “Lewandowski has a contract with Barcelona until summer 2026, and no decisions have been made yet. We have to wait and see what happens in the coming days.”
Zahavi further dismissed claims of negotiations with Saudi Arabian clubs, stating, “There are currently no offers.” Meanwhile, Barcelona is preparing for life after Lewandowski, with Ferran Torres frequently playing as a central striker during Hansi Flick‘s management. Reports indicate Barcelona is not planning an immediate replacement, although notable names are surfacing in the media.
The situation remains dynamic as both the player and club weigh their options ahead of the summer.
