Liverpool Target Milos Kerkez Hints at Future with Szoboszlai

Bournemouth, England — AFC Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez has commented on speculation linking him to a potential move to Liverpool, driven by his friendship with international teammate Dominik Szoboszlai.
The 21-year-old defender has emerged as a prime target for the Reds as they seek to bolster their defense this summer, especially in the left-back position where Andy Robertson‘s contract runs through 2026. Kerkez, who has nearly 100 top-flight appearances with the Cherries, has impressed with his performances this season, fueling interest from Liverpool.
Kerkez acknowledged that teaming up with Szoboszlai at Anfield would be an enticing opportunity. In a recent interview, he stated, “It wouldn’t look bad [working with Szoboszlai at Liverpool], that’s for sure. But it’s too early to talk about something like that. I have big goals with Bournemouth; we still have a lot of games to win, that’s the most important thing right now.”
Despite his on-field success, Kerkez expressed a desire to focus on his current club as they aim for a high finish this season. As of now, Bournemouth is sitting fifth in the Premier League standings. “I’m just focused on playing and winning as many games as possible with my team,” Kerkez noted. “A lot can happen in football, but it’s pointless to predict.”
His ongoing commitment to Bournemouth indicates a level-headed approach to the transfer speculation surrounding him. Reports have consistently linked the left-back to Liverpool, coinciding with Sporting Director Richard Hughes’ connections to both clubs, given his past role at Bournemouth before moving to Merseyside.
Hughes played a key role in the signing of Kerkez from AZ Alkmaar for approximately £15.5 million. His recent attendance at Bournemouth’s fixtures, including their 3-1 victory in February, suggests that Liverpool is monitoring Kerkez closely.
While Liverpool’s interest in the Hungary international remains, there is no definitive guarantee a transfer will materialize. Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are also reportedly eyeing the young talent, which adds to the competitive landscape for Kerkez’s signature.
As Liverpool prepares for a busy summer transfer window, there are various players on their radar, including Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz. With several teams competing for top positions, potential departures from Liverpool, including a pivotal player like Mohamed Salah, could also influence the club’s transfer strategy.
Fans and analysts alike are considering the implications of Szoboszlai’s friendship with Kerkez in encouraging the move, yet they are also cautious about relying solely on personal connections. With multiple candidates for the left-back position, including Jorrel Hato and Antonee Robinson, Liverpool’s search remains competitive.
The upcoming summer transfer window is likely to be pivotal for Liverpool, especially with the departure of long-standing players on the horizon. Kerkez’s continual development at Bournemouth and his growing recognition in the Premier League make him a coveted asset.
