LSU Women’s Basketball Hosts Charlotte After Dominant Season Start
BATON ROUGE, La. – The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team is set to face the Charlotte 49ers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. This game marks the first time the two teams have met in women’s basketball.
LSU comes into the game after a strong opening week, winning three consecutive games against Houston Christian, Southeastern Louisiana, and Georgia Southern, each with over 100 points. This is only the second time in program history that the Tigers have started a season with three games scoring 100-plus points.
In their most recent game against Georgia Southern, LSU achieved a season-high 118 points, shooting 46-of-87 from the field and 9-of-20 from the three-point range. The Tigers dominated the boards with 31 offensive rebounds, the second-most in program history. Leading the team was senior Flau’jae Johnson, who scored 19 points and had six assists in front of a record crowd of 5,322 fans.
Joining Johnson in scoring were junior MiLaysia Fulwiley, also with 19 points, and sophomore Kate Koval, who achieved her first double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Koval previously transferred from Notre Dame. Other contributors included ZaKiyah Johnson with 17 points, Mikaylah Williams with 15, and Grace Knox with 13.

Charlotte is led by first-year head coach Tomekia Reed, who previously coached Jackson State during their NCAA Tournament appearances.
