Maccabi Tel Aviv Signs Israeli Forward Malede From Mechelen

Maccabi Tel Aviv, the renowned Israeli football club competing in the UEFA Conference League, has made an exciting signing by acquiring Israeli international forward Yonas Malede from Belgian Jupiler Pro League side KV Mechelen. The 24-year-old talent entered the Belgian football scene in 2021 when he inked a deal with KAA Gent. During his time with the team, Malede played a crucial role in securing the Belgian Cup triumph, defeating Anderlecht in a thrilling penalty shootout in April 2022.

In the summer of 2022, Malede transferred to Mechelen. Once again, he showcased his abilities as he led the team to the Belgian Cup final. Although his side succumbed to a defeat against Royal Antwerp in April last year, Malede left an indelible mark with his performances. The official statement from Maccabi Tel Aviv confirmed that the talented forward has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Israeli club.

According to Israeli media reports, Maccabi Tel Aviv paid Mechelen a transfer fee of 325,000 euros, securing the services of Malede. Speaking about his move, Malede expressed his excitement, stating that Maccabi Tel Aviv is a club that every player dreams of representing. He shared his aspirations of working hard and winning titles with his new team now that he has returned to Israel.

Before his venture in Belgian football, Malede had previously played for Maccabi Netanya in the Israeli Premier League. Apart from his club achievements, the forward has also made his mark on the national stage, with a total of 10 appearances for the Israeli national teams across senior, U21, and U19 levels.

Maccabi Tel Aviv, under the guidance of Irish football legend Robbie Keane, is currently leading the Israeli league and has successfully reached the round of 16 in the Conference League. This signing of Malede adds further firepower to the team’s squad and is expected to bolster their chances of success in the tournament.
