Xabi Alonso Real Madrid Coach Training

Madrid, Spain — Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso addressed the team’s rotation strategy ahead of a busy match schedule this season, emphasizing the importance of all players contributing. Despite Kylian Mbappé’s impressive performance with six goals in five matches, Alonso stated that even key players like Mbappé will be rotated through the season to manage their workload.

During a press conference on Friday, Alonso noted, “We have a lot of games and I’m sure there will be a game where he will not be a starter. Kylian is very important, but there will be days he may not play from the start.” This statement came after discussions with forward Vinícius Junior, who expressed frustration over being benched during Madrid’s recent Champions League win against Marseille.

“I see him well,” Alonso said of Vinícius after Friday’s training. “He seemed more positive and had a happier attitude.” While Alonso did not confirm whether Vinícius will start against Espanyol on Saturday, he highlighted the competitive nature of the squad, stating that both Vinícius and Rodrygo have been valuable whether starting or coming off the bench.

“Rodrygo’s quality, his ability to move forward, and his link-up play are impressive, but Vinícius also has that,” Alonso noted, reflecting on their performances. He reiterated that every player in the squad is important and should feel valued, setting the tone for teamwork as the season progresses.

Adding to his roster’s depth, Alonso mentioned that players like Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga, both recovering from injuries, may also see action soon. Madrid, having won all five of their matches this season, is eager to maintain momentum before a hectic lineup of fixtures that includes Levante, Atlético Madrid, and a challenging trip to Kairat Almaty.

As Real Madrid prepares for the upcoming matches, Alonso continues to balance the squad’s fitness and performance, knowing the demanding calendar requires every player to be ready to contribute.
