Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has suggested that Manchester United‘s Casemiro should contemplate a move to the MLS or Saudi Arabia following his struggles in the heavy loss against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United endured a crushing defeat at Selhurst Park, where Casemiro, usually a midfielder, was deployed in defense due to injury woes plaguing Erik ten Hag‘s side.

During the match, the Brazilian was notably vulnerable against the pace and skill of Crystal Palace’s attackers, with stats revealing that he was dribbled past eight times – the highest in a Premier League game this season.

Speaking after the game, Sky Sports pundit Carragher expressed his belief that Casemiro should recognize the decline of his abilities at the highest level.

Carragher remarked, “I think Casemiro should know tonight that he should only have another three games left at the top level. The next two league games and the cup final, then he should be thinking, I need to go to the MLS or Saudi.”

The 32-year-old Casemiro, a five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, has been a key figure in past successes, but his performance in the Palace defeat has raised concerns about his current form.

Carragher emphasized, “The level of that player, he should not be putting himself through this. He is too good of a player to be putting in a performance like that being laughed at by Crystal Palace. He needs to call it a day.”

Casemiro joined Manchester United in 2022 and still has two years remaining on his contract. Despite a strong debut season, his performances have dipped this campaign, mirroring the team’s overall struggles.

The loss to Crystal Palace marked Manchester United’s 13th league defeat of the season, setting a record for the club. With just three games left, their European hopes are hanging by a thread, sitting in eighth place and fighting for a place in continental competitions.

Manchester United is set to face Arsenal and Newcastle before concluding their league campaign against Brighton, with the FA Cup final against Manchester City awaiting them later in May.
