Gulbadin Naib, the experienced cricketer from Afghanistan, marked his debut appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he joined the Delhi Capitals squad for their clash against Rajasthan Royals.

The match took place at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, where Naib added to the Afghan firepower in the IPL, showcasing his skills on the big stage.

Having been part of the international cricket scene since 2011, Naib, who also captained the Afghanistan team in the 2019 ODI World Cup in England and Wales, brings a wealth of experience to the DC lineup.

Naib, aged 32, stepped in for the sidelined Anrich Nortje, the South African pacer with a hamstring injury, making his presence felt with his all-round abilities on the field.

In his T20 career spanning 126 matches, Gulbadin Naib has proven his mettle with both the bat and ball, accumulating 1626 runs and claiming 70 wickets, showcasing his versatility as a cricketer.

Joining the ranks of esteemed Afghan cricketers in the IPL, including the likes of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Noor Ahmad, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Naib adds to the growing presence of Afghan talent in the lucrative league.

Notable among Afghan players in the IPL, left-arm wrist spinner Zahir Khan Pakteen was previously signed by the Royals in IPL 2018, although he was unable to play a match due to injury concerns.
