Marcell Ozuna Eyes Comeback Against Mets After Rough Game

QUEENS, NY – Marcell Ozuna looks to break out of a recent slump as he and the Atlanta Braves face the New York Mets Thursday at 7:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field.
Ozuna went hitless in his last game, finishing 0-for-5. He holds a .247 batting average, with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, and 58 walks this season.
This matchup sees the Braves as underdogs with a moneyline of -101, while the Mets are favored at -119. Oddsmakers have set the total runs at 8.5.
“It’s been a tough stretch for me, but I’ve had good success against Griffin Canning before,” Ozuna said. In five at-bats against the Mets’ starting pitcher, he has a .800 batting average, with two of those hits being home runs.
The Braves enter this game with a 6-4 record over their last 10 games. In contrast, the Mets are struggling with a record of 2-8.
Braves pitcher Grant Holmes will start against Mets starter Canning. Holmes has a 3.71 ERA this season, while Canning is sitting at 3.91. Both pitchers have had their ups and downs, and runs could come at a premium.
Ozuna’s recent performance shows he’s hitting just .185 over the last week, but optimistic signs against Canning offer hope for his return to form. Whether he can capitalize on this opportunity remains to be seen.
“It’s all about finding ways to contribute even in tough times,” Ozuna noted. “I know I can hit well when it matters, and tonight I hope to show that on the field.”
