Mason Greenwood Marseille Nice Match

Marseille, France

Mason Greenwood scored twice as Marseille defeated Nice 5-1 at Allianz Riviera, securing the top spot in Ligue 1 on November 24, 2025. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring in the 11th minute, setting the stage for a strong performance from Marseille.

Marseille took the lead when Benjamin Pavard‘s header from Greenwood’s corner was flicked in by Aubameyang. After the opener, Greenwood scored his first goal just after the half-hour mark, fooling Nice goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf with a strike from inside the box.

Greenwood followed up with a spectacular second goal after the break. He dribbled through the Nice defense and fired into the net from the edge of the box. Aubameyang further contributed to the match with assists, setting up Timothy Weah and Igor Paixao, as Marseille overwhelmed Nice.

Despite trying to score a third goal late in the game, Greenwood was denied by Diouf. Marseille showcased dominance with 2.87 expected goals (xG) from 11 shots on target, while Nice only managed 1.2 xG with seven attempts on goal.

With his two goals, Greenwood reached a total of 10 goals in Ligue 1 this season, more than any other player. He is now among just four players in Europe’s top five leagues to hit double figures, trailing only Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland.

The match marked a significant milestone for Aubameyang, who celebrated his 400th professional goal. He led Marseille in key statistical categories, including touches in the box, chances created, big chances, and assists.
