UT Martin Defeats Gardner-Webb 37-7 in Dominant Showdown

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — The UT Martin Skyhawks dominated the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs with a decisive 37-7 victory on Saturday.
John Gentry led the Skyhawks with 90 rushing yards, while Chris Franklin made a significant impact with a 66-yard touchdown run. UT Martin’s offense was impressive, amassing 244 rushing yards and 164 passing yards during the game.
The Skyhawks took an early lead when Jace Bauer connected with Dazalin Worsham for a 28-yard touchdown pass, putting UT Martin up 10-0 in the first quarter. Bauer later added a 15-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to extend the lead to 20-0 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, UT Martin was ahead 23-0, and Franklin capped off the scoring with his long touchdown run with about four minutes left in the game. Bauer completed an impressive 15 of 16 passes for 164 yards and boasted a QBR of 200.5.
On the other side, Gardner-Webb quarterback Cole Pennington threw for 236 yards but struggled, throwing three interceptions. Receiver Chris Lofton was a bright spot for the Runnin’ Bulldogs, making six catches for 130 yards.
This match also marked Gardner-Webb’s homecoming game, adding extra significance for the players and fans.
