MotorLand Aragon, Spain – Matteo Vannucci made a triumphant return to the top of the grid as he secured pole position for Race 1 in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship on Saturday during the Tissot Aragon Round.

Vannucci, who competes for PATA AG Motorsport Italia WorldSSP300, set a blistering time of 2’05.556 seconds, breaking the existing WorldSSP300 lap record. This marks his first pole in two years and two days at this same circuit.

Following Vannucci was Australian rider Carter Thompson from MTM Kawasaki, who claimed the second spot with a time just 0.454 seconds off the pole. Current Championship leader Benat Fernandez, riding for Team #109 Retro Traffic Kove, rounded out the front row by qualifying in third place, clocking a 2’06.074 seconds.

The competition is intense with five riders within 25 points of the Championship lead, underscoring a thrilling battle ahead in Race 1.

David Salvador from Team ProDina XCI secured fourth place, reinforcing his position as a contender for the Championship with strong support from his team. He hopes to capitalize on his grid position as he pursues the title and aims to challenge Fernandez.

Daniel Mogeda of Pons Motosport Italika Racing qualified fifth, achieving his second-best Superpole result this year. Juan Risueno from MS Racing completed the second row in sixth place, trailing Mogeda by a narrow margin.

Two-time World Champion Jeffrey Buis from Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing led the third row in seventh place, demonstrating resilience as he looks to bounce back in the title race. Loris Veneman from MTM Kawasaki and Marco Gaggi of Team BrCorse followed closely behind in eighth and ninth positions, respectively, while Kevin Sabatucci of Accolade Funds Smrz Racing BGR rounded out the top ten.

Despite facing difficulties from a recent injury, Julio Garcia from Prodina Kawasaki Italka Racing is set to start from 14th position, eager to improve his standing in Race 1.
