Troy Snitker Hitting Coach Mets

FLUSHING, N.Y. — The New York Mets have interviewed Troy Snitker for their open hitting coach position, The Post has learned.

Snitker, who was recently fired by the Houston Astros, served as hitting coach for the team for seven seasons. His dismissal came after the Astros failed to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The Mets are looking to restructure their hitting approach and aim to hire at least one coach to assist current hitting coach, who is expected to work under Albert. A source described Snitker as one of the top candidates for the role.

Notably, Albert was the Astros’ minor league hitting coordinator back in 2016 when Snitker first joined Houston’s coaching staff. This connection is seen as a positive factor in Snitker’s candidacy.

The Mets hope to finalize their coaching staff soon as they prepare for the upcoming season.
