Mexico Vs Honduras Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals

The Mexican national football team is set to face Honduras in the first leg of the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals on Friday, November 15. The match will take place at Estadio Francisco Morazan in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT. The game will be broadcast on Univision and available for streaming on Fubo.

Mexico enters the quarterfinals on a strong note, having gone unbeaten in their last five games. This streak includes a recent 2-0 victory over the United States Soccer team at Estadio Akron in October. Under the guidance of returning head coach Javier Aguirre, Mexico is aiming to reach the final of the competition for the second consecutive year, despite the heartbreak of losing to the USA in the final last March and failing to progress past the Group Stage of the 2024 Copa America.

Honduras, on the other hand, has had a less convincing path to the quarterfinals but managed to secure their spot with wins against Trinidad and Tobago and French Guiana, as well as a draw with Jamaica. Honduras will likely field a lineup that includes Denil Maldonado and Luis Vega in central defense, Bryan Acosta in midfield, and Anthony Lozano and Jorge Benguche up front.

Mexico’s predicted lineup includes Luis Malagon in goal, Jorge Sanchez at right back, Cesar Montes and Jesus Orozco in central defense, and Jesus Angulo at left back. In midfield, Edson Alvarez and Luis Romo are expected to start, with Julian Quinones, Orbelin Pineda, and Cesar Huerta supporting Raul Jimenez up front. The absence of Johan Vasquez due to injury has forced Aguirre to adjust his defensive lineup, with Orozco stepping in to partner Montes.

Historically, Mexico has dominated the head-to-head meetings with Honduras, winning 29 out of 48 matches. However, Honduras did manage a 2-0 win in the Nations League in November 2023, breaking a recent trend of Mexican dominance).
