Micah Parsons Leads Packers After Leaving His Podcast
Green Bay, Wisconsin — Micah Parsons is having an outstanding season with the Green Bay Packers after joining from the Dallas Cowboys. This year, he’s on track for a remarkable career milestone. Parsons has tallied ten sacks and is leading the NFL, showcasing his skills on the field.
The change in Parsons’ performance may be linked to a decision he made before this season: he opted not to continue his personal podcast. During a recent episode of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, McAfee discussed the impact of Parsons’ podcast absence, suggesting that the negative energy from the show could have been holding him back. ‘There was a lot of negative energy seemingly coming out of the podcast,’ McAfee said. ‘But it felt like, Micah was so good at football and the only negative was just coming out from this podcast.’
Parsons had been hosting the podcast for the last two years, discussing various topics, but he decided to shelve it this season. Since then, his performance has significantly improved, leading many to speculate whether the podcast’s negativity played a role in his previous performance.
As of now, Parsons has amassed a total of 10.0 sacks this season, becoming the first Packers player to reach double-digit sacks since Za'Darius Smith in 2020. This achievement marks him as only the second player to achieve ten sacks in each of his first five seasons since the NFL began officially recording sacks in 1982, joining the legendary Reggie White.
Parsons downplayed the personal achievement, saying, ‘I wouldn’t say it’s like a feat where it’s very easy or anything like that. But you know, it’s a standard of play.’ He highlighted his expectations, stating, ‘For me, mine was just always 10 sacks.’ With his impressive stats, he is on track for his fifth Pro Bowl selection.
Looking ahead, the Packers will face a crucial Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Detroit Lions where Parsons aims to add to his sack total. The Packers are responding to the injury concerns within the team, and Parsons’ performance is crucial for their playoff aspirations.
