Michael Schumacher Charity Helmet Auction

Bahrain, April 12, 2025 — Michael Schumacher, the legendary seven-time Formula One world champion, has signed a crash helmet set to be auctioned for charity with assistance from his wife, Corinna. This significant event occurs ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday, where the helmet will be revealed.

The white helmet, adorned with Royal Stewart Tartan like the one used by fellow champion Jackie Stewart during his racing career in the 1960s and ’70s, features Schumacher’s initials ‘MS.’ Stewart, 85, is set to drive his championship-winning Tyrrell during an exhibition lap before the race. All living Formula One champions have contributed their signatures to the helmet to support Stewart’s Race Against Dementia charity.

“It is wonderful that Michael could sign the helmet for this worthy cause — a disease for which there is no cure,” Stewart told the Daily Mail. “His wife helped him, and it completed the set of every single champion still with us.”

Schumacher’s participation is notable as he has not been seen in public since a serious skiing accident in December 2013 that left him with severe brain injuries. His current condition requires him to receive constant care from his wife and a dedicated team of medical professionals at their home near Lake Geneva.

Stewart’s Race Against Dementia charity was established after his wife, Lady Helen, was diagnosed with dementia in 2014. Stewart poignantly shared his experiences with Lady Helen’s condition, recounting a recent moment when she asked him, “Where’s Jackie?” during dinner, highlighting the emotional toll of dementia on both patients and their families. He has since pushed for more awareness and funding for dementia research, including a blood test trial initiated by Cambridge University to detect the onset of frontotemporal dementia.

The auction event will take place after the exhibition lap at the Bahrain International Circuit, marking a momentous occasion as it also aligns with the 60th anniversary of Stewart’s grand prix debut. The proceeds from the auction will directly benefit the ongoing efforts of the Race Against Dementia charity.

This unique helmet, signed by every living F1 champion, symbolizes hope not only for the fight against dementia but also showcases the incredible camaraderie within the sport, as it unites legends for a noble cause.
