Michigan Basketball Faces San Diego State in Las Vegas Showdown
Las Vegas, Nev. — The seventh-ranked University of Michigan men’s basketball team, boasting a 4-0 record, prepares to face San Diego State (2-1) on Monday, November 24, during the 2025 Players Era Festival at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The matchup is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. PT, and will be televised on truTV, featuring commentators Brian Anderson, Grant Hill, and Lauren Jbara.
The Players Era Festival is a multi-day basketball showcase that highlights the importance of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements for student-athletes. Teams will compete in a series of early-round games, with performance metrics like point differential and total points determining seedings for subsequent matches.
Michigan’s participation in the festival spans two years, with options for a third appearance in 2027. After facing San Diego State, the Wolverines will also play against Auburn on November 26.
San Diego State enters the tournament with a record of 2-1, dominating Long Beach State 77-45 and Idaho State 73-57 but suffering a heartbreaking double-overtime loss to Troy, 108-107. Head coach Brian Dutcher, previously an assistant at Michigan, played a pivotal role in the recruitment of the legendary Fab Five in the 1990s.
This game will mark a notable meeting between Dutcher and Michigan’s head coach since their last encounter at the 2023 NCAA Final Four when San Diego State narrowly defeated Florida Atlantic 72-71.
For Michigan’s standout player, just four points are needed to reach 1,200 Division I points. He currently stands at 1,196 career points, averaging 14.4 points per game over his career. Meanwhile, another player is nearing his 100th career game appearance.
As the Wolverines prepare to make their mark at the Players Era Festival, fans can expect an exciting contest against a familiar foe.
