Mighty Ajax Fc Gunjur Super Cup

The Mighty Ajax FC emerged victorious in the 2024 Gunjur Super Cup, clinching the trophy sponsored by Lamin Kabba Bajo, after defeating Continental Star FC in a tightly contested final match. The game took place on a Saturday at the Gunjur Nyamina Mini Stadium.

Despite Continental Star FC’s strong start, dominating the field and creating several promising goal opportunities, they were unable to convert these chances into goals. On the other side, Mighty Ajax FC struggled to establish themselves in the early stages but managed to create a few scoring chances, although the first half concluded without any team scoring.

In the second half, both teams made strategic substitutions, bringing fresh players to enhance their attacking strategies. Mighty Ajax FC gained control over the midfield and engineered several goal-scoring opportunities. Substitute striker Ansumana Jarju, also known as Carrasco, made a significant impact by scoring in the 76th minute, securing a lead that would ultimately decide the match.

Despite Continental Star FC’s spirited efforts to equalize, they faced a formidable Mighty Ajax FC defense, which effectively stifled their attempts, resulting in a 1-0 victory for the Amsterdam-based team. The situation for Continental Star FC worsened when midfielder Saikou John, known as Saiba, was sent off in the 38th minute, reducing them to ten players.

After their win, Mighty Ajax FC were awarded gold medals, a large trophy, and a cash prize of D15,000, while runners-up Continental Star FC received silver medals and D10,000.
